corto.alto + Milhouse Collective
Part of Aberdeen Jazz Festival 2024Scottish composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist corto.alto has been described as a traditional jazz head raised in the age of the internet. Glasgow-based Liam Shortall - a.k.a. Corto.alto - creates a heady mix of intuitive improvisation, electronic production, broken beat bounce and bass-heavy dub. His debut album ‘Bad With Names’, released in October 2023 to great critical acclaim, challenges the boundaries of contemporary jazz. Fresh from a string of sold-out shows at London’s Jazz Cafe, a full UK/EU tour, and Glastonbury, corto.alto descends into the pulsating, subterranean world of the Tunnels ready to rip up the rulebook in true 2024 style.
Daring and unpredictable, Dundee’s Millhouse Collective are renowned for their killer live shows. Described as punk-funk-jazz meets kitsch psychedelia, the Collective’s punchy vibes promise a sweat-soaked dance floor.
