University of Aberdeen Chamber Choir
The University of Aberdeen Chamber Choir returns to Aberdeen Art Gallery for an evening of music spanning nearly four and a half centuries. From the shimmering textures of Ēriks Ešenvalds to the intimacy of Burns set by Vaughan Williams, and from Allegri's beloved Miserere to Billy Joel's And So It Goes, the programme moves between sacred devotion, pastoral beauty, and the many moods of human love.
The concert includes a first performance by soprano and choir member Eleanor Dunnet, whose new work For You sets a text drawn from the Art Gallery's own collection. Music by Ginastera, Rheinberger, Kenneth Leighton, Paul Mealor, and Gerald Finzi completes a programme chosen to make the most of the Gallery's generous acoustic and striking surroundings.
The choir, conducted by Sam Paul, specialises in contemporary music alongside core choral repertoire and performs regularly for the Royal Family. They tour internationally and travel to Portugal later this summer.
