Organ Registration for Voluntaries

Date
Venue
St James' Episcopal Church

This workshop will focus on choosing appropriate and effective registration for organ music from different eras and styles.

We will explore ways of adapting registration when the desired stops or manuals are unavailable, using both the two-manual organ and the one-manual chamber organ at St James’.

The session will begin with a talk by Kamil Mika, including musical examples demonstrating a variety of registrations from the organ repertoire.

This will be followed by an interactive session, during which participants are encouraged to bring their own organ pieces — either to play selected sections or to raise questions regarding registration.

Any organ repertoire is welcome in order that the workshop can cover a wide diversity in organ music.

Those wishing to bring music are asked to inform the President of the Aberdeen & District Organists Association of their chosen pieces by Monday 23 February preferably.
