Come & Sing: John Rutter's Feel the Spirit

A date for your 2026 Diary! Inverurie Choral Society’s Come & Sing Saturday 14 March 2026, Acorn Centre, Inverurie, 10am to 5pm, cost £20 Inverurie Choral Society has great pleasure in announcing the 2026 Come & Sing at the Acorn Centre, Inverurie on Saturday 14th March 2026. The core work will be John Rutter’s “Feel the Spirit.” A favourite composer for many of you, he celebrates his 80th birthday in September this year. 

Our Come and Sing conducted by Musical Director James GR Campbell is a fitting tribute to this great modern composer.

“Feel the Spirit” was first performed in 2001 at the Carnegie Hall in New York, and conducted by the composer himself. There will be an appropriate companion work to go with the “Spirit" on the day - further information later.

John Rutter’s “Feel the Spirit” comprises seven settings of American Spirituals, including the well known “Steal Away” and “When the Saints go Marching in.” With expressive and vivid settings, the work is very suitable for a mixed choir Come & Sing event, where. as is usual, some of you will be familiar with the work and for others of you it’ll be a new experience. The cost of £20 will covers music loan and teas/coffees through the day.
