David and June Gordon Trust Young Artist 2025
Latest in the line of outstanding young cellists to be awarded Cello Festival Young Artist, Shakira, together with wonderful Dina Duisen, will present a fabulous programme including 20th Century classics by Arvo Pärt and Nadia Boulanger, the magnificent sonata for piano and cello by Rachmaninov, and starting with Bach’s 3rd suite for solo cello.
Shakira Segalla-Humbert is currently in her 3rd year at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland studying with Alison Wells. She grew up in Edinburgh and attended St Mary’s music school. During her time at RCS, she has been awarded first place in the Ian D Watt competition for cellists and was a finalist in the governors’ recital prize for chamber music. She was also the senior winner of the Beatrice Huntington award for cellists.
Dina Duisen is much in demand as a recitalist and duo player all over the world. She is resident pianist for Prussia Cove Masterclasses and her duo collaborations include regularly working with Nicola Benedetti.
