Emily Gow
Emily is an 18-year-old musician from Aberdeen, currently receiving tuition from the Northeast of Scotland Music School (NESMS).
She is the recipient of this year’s Dorothy Hately Scholarship from NESMS, where she is taught by Catherine O’Rourke. Through NESMS she has received many performance opportunities, as well as being a member of the flute choir. Additionally, she receives regular piano lessons at NESMS from Nigel Clayton.
Emily is a member of Aberdeen City Orchestra, and has previously played with the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland as well as smaller ensembles. She enjoys performing solo and is frequently invited to play at concerts around Aberdeen, including Aberdeen Orpheus Choir at Christmas. After achieving distinction in both Grade 8 flute and piano, she enjoys the opportunity to expand her repertoire and perform in public.
Having just finished her school career at Albyn, Emily has secured a place at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she will start a Bachelor of Music for flute performance in September. She is looking forward to the challenges of pursuing a career in music and furthering her skills as a performer.
