Ellie Donald
Aberdeenshire-born soprano Ellie Donald graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2022, where she studied with Linda Ormiston and Wilma MacDougall. Her interest in music’s role in our development and within society led her to progress onto the master's program, “Music Psychology in the Arts” at the RCS. Her passion for performing took off in her teenage years through the local theatre groups AYMT and Leading Lights. Ellies love and talent for classical music were ignited when she was accepted into the Aberdeen City Music School in 2016. Here, she performed in many recitals and outreach projects with schools in and around the city.
Since her studies, she has performed as a soloist with Haddo House Choral and Operatic Society, the Glasgow Bach Cantata Project, and attended the Oxford International Summer School in 2022, 2023, and 2024, where she received masterclasses with Susan Bullock, Malcolm Martineau, Joan Rodgers, and Marie McLaughlin. This year, she was selected to perform in the song cycle series “Canciones Clásicas Españolas” by Fernando Obradors.
Studying the cognitive function behind music has given Ellie a great wealth of knowledge regarding performance psychology, which she cares deeply about. She looks forward to working with specialist music schools this year in workshops to develop young musicians' confidence and performance skills. In 2022, she received a grant from the “RCS Innovation Studio Fund” which has enabled her to work with students and alumni to improve their mental well-being, relationship with performing, and self confidence.
