Inverurie Orchestra is a community orchestra based in Inverurie that mainly comprises amateur players from Aberdeen Shire and City. The orchestra was founded in 2007 and puts on 2-3 concerts a year in Inverurie.

Led by Musical Director Chris Gray, we explore a variety of orchestral repertoire that is fun and sometimes just a little bit challenging!

We regularly perform with soloists who have come from a variety of backgrounds, from professional soloists to university students looking for a chance to perform and even our own orchestra members. Recent soloists have included Steven Laidlaw (Elgar Cello Concerto), Richard Bailey (Gershwin Rhapsody in Blue) our own Zoe Sayer (Weber Bassoon Concerto) and our leader Aden Mazur (Vaughan Williams Lark Ascending)

We also look for opportunities to perform larger works alongside local choral groups and recently performed Haydn's Creation with Inverurie Choral Society and soloists Amy Strachan (soprano), Samuel Jenkins (tenor) and Niall Anderson (bass-baritone).

Getting involved

We have a minimum standard of ABRSM Grade 6 or equivalent and operate on a "try before you buy" basis, where you come along to a couple of rehearsals so we can hear you play, and you can decide if we're the right orchestra for you, before committing to the termly fee.

If you are interested in joining, please get in touch with us via our website, or message us via our Facebook page.

We rehearse every Thursday evening at 7.30pm, St Mary's Church, High St, Inverurie.
