Craigievar Community Hall

Venue type
Hall

Craigievar Hall has been at the heart of this scattered rural community for over 100 years.  Built in 1909, it is one of only a few tin tabernacle halls.   Originally owned by William Forbes-Sempill, 10th Baronet of Craigievar & the 19th Lord Sempill, it was transferred to the community following his death in 1965.   Today the hall is managed by the Trustees of Craigievar Community and Hall Association. The purpose of the Association is

  • To promote the quality of life of the inhabitants of Craigievar and environs by promoting social, cultural, recreational and educational activities; while such activities shall be primarily for the benefit of residents they shall be open to those living outside the area
  • To manage the Craigievar Hall in furtherance of the above object and to maintain and improve the hall and its contents and the ground associated with the hall for the benefit of users, without distinction of age, gender, sexuality or political, religious or other opinions
  • Advance citizenship and community development by bringing the residents of Craigievar and environs together with a wide variety of community events/activities/facilities and environs of Craigievar
  • In 2015 the Hall became a registered Scottish charity - SC045609
