Symphonic Dances from West Side Story
Aberdeen City Orchestra &
Pete Stollery
Aberdeen City Orchestra ends its season with a programme that heads across the Atlantic.
Arturo Márquez's Danzón No. 2 opens with the dance rhythms that have made it one of Mexico's best-loved orchestral works, followed by Piazzolla's Milonga for Three and Sonia Possetti's Bullanguera, both drawn from the world of Argentine tango. Villa-Lobos brings a different flavour with his Bachianas Brasileiras No. 9 for strings, where the spirit of Bach meets Brazil. Then Bernstein's Symphonic Dances from West Side Story close the evening, and the season, with all the drive and swagger of the original. Music built on rhythm, and plenty of it.
Tickets available from Aberdeen Performing Arts soon.
