Colin Brockie & Blair Cargill

Originally from Ellon in Aberdeenshire, Colin first started singing and acting at Haddo House, being involved both on and off stage with the Children’s Theatre, Youth Theatre and the Choral and Operatic Society.

Whilst gaining a BA Hons in Design and Craft from Gray’s School of Art, Colin continued to receive his singing lessons here at NESMS, being taught by Ruth Black, Alan Watt and Dr Raimund Herincx. 

He completed a Masters in Solo Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, appearing in productions of La Belle Helene, La Clemenza di Tito, Carmen and Albert Herring.

Upon leaving the RNCM, Colin performed in the choruses of Buxton Festival Opera, Wexford Festival and Glyndebourne and remains a regular soloist for Oratorio and recital opportunities.

Blair Cargill grew up in Arbroath and began his musical life as a brass player before commencing piano studies at aged 13. He was awarded an entrance scholarship to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama followed by postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music, gaining the LRAM piano teachers' diploma and the Jackson Prize. His teachers have included Kathleen Renilson, John York, Alexander Kelly and principally the Russian teacher Nina Sereda. He currently teaches in South Aberdeenshire schools and Robert Gordon's College and is accompanist for Stonehaven Choral and Aberdeen Orpheus Choir.
