About
Come and play cello in the beautiful Highland village of Kingussie, the capital of Badenoch. The town is located in the majestic Cairngorms National Park and lies in the foothills of the Monadhliath mountains by the River Spey. Located conveniently on the A9 and the National Rail, Kingussie is the perfect location for a weekend of all things cello.
The autumn course is open to adult (18+) amateur cellists of all abilities. Our bespoke course centres on four key aspects of cello playing—tone production, agility, bow distribution, and position work—giving participants the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of these fundamental skills. Through a combination of small, level-appropriate groups, micro-sessions, cello choir, and an individual lesson with one of our tutors, participants will receive both focused instruction and personalised support.
A distinctive feature of the course is the opportunity to play side by side with our team of four experienced tutors in both small-group and cello choir settings. Their expert coaching, encouragement, and musical leadership will help participants build confidence, refine their technique, and enjoy making music with others. The weekend will conclude with an informal sharing concert at the Iona Gallery, followed by a short reception to celebrate the achievements of the course and the friendships formed along the way.
