Kurdy-murdy (Scots: a state of confusion, uproar) blends percussion and live electronics. Drawing on old Scots words and the composer’s field recordings, language becomes both musical material and performance cue, with rhythms, textures and electronic transformations inspired by the sounds and meanings of words.
