RCO Local Organ Workshop
The autumn RCO SCOTS workshop visits the city of Aberdeen, in association with Aberdeen & District Organists' Association. In the morning we will be at St Machar's Cathedral with its fine Willis/ Rushworth & Dreaper/ Edmonstone 3 manual instrument. In the afternoon we move to King's College Chapel and the Bernard Aubertin organ of 2004.
1030 Assemble at St Machar's
1100 Introductory talk: Stuart Muir discusses his experience of working across the denominations in cathedrals of the Presbyterian and Episcopal traditions in Scotland
1130 Empower your hymn-playing: Stuart Muir leads a workshop on leading hymn-singing and adapting modern hymnody to work well on the organ. Bring any hymns that you are needing advice on or which are causing you difficulty.
1245 Introduction to Orgelkids: an opportunity to explore Orgelkids, a small kit organ which can be erected by a group of people in half an hour. We have recently purchased one of these, funded by a number of partners in the organ community in Scotland.
1315 Lunch
1345 Move to King's College Chapel. Learn about the colours and traditions of the French classical tradition, and explore some of its repertoire, led by Kamil Mika. If you are bringing repertoire for this session, music by French 17th/18th century composers would be the first choice.
1530 Ends
