Phil Bancroft Standards Trio

Phil Bancroft’s Standards Trio has been delivering a series of stand-out live performances over the last 18 months, and has recently recorded a blistering set for a new album, to be released in May 25 on Phil’s Myriad Streams label.  A recent blog post sums up what you can expect – “In an excellent show, the trio’s set list contained so many of my favourite tunes it was almost as if they’d been through my playlist. And they played them wonderfully!”. Tunes by Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Duke Ellington, Charlie Mingus, Miles Davis, Joe Henderson’s Inner Urge, Monk’s Mood, Wayne Shorter’s Deluge, John Coltrane’s Bye Bye Blackbird and Sonny Rollins’ Freedom Suite may feature in one of the current must-see shows on the Scottish music scene.
