Matthew McVey

Since September 2023, Matthew has been Organ Scholar at St Edmundsbury Cathedral and Musician in Residence at King Edward VI School in Bury St Edmunds. 

Matthew started his organ education aged 14. Aged 15 he was appointed as Organist and Choirmaster to St Ninian’s Parish Church in Nairn and Organist at the linked parish of Auldearn and Dalmore.

He started studying music at the University of Aberdeen in 2019 while also taking the post of Organist at St Mary’s Episcopal Church and since August of 2021 has been playing for the 8am mass at St Mary’s RC Cathedral. Matthew was also Senior Organ Scholar in King’s College Chapel, University of Aberdeen for the 2 academic years (2021-22 & 2022-23). Aside from organ playing, he was rehearsal accompanist to Ugie Voices for the 2021-2022 term and was Musical Director for the 2022-2023 term.
