The Organ Journey Series: Italy

Kamil Mika
Date
Venue
St James' Episcopal, Aberdeen

The recital will be the first of The Organ Journey series, which will explore organ music from a different European country at each concert. Kamil will be playing two instruments: the recently installed chamber organ by Bewsher & Fleetwood from 1825 – celebrating its 200th anniversary this year – which is ideal for Early music repertoire, and the main Wadsworth organ from 1887, which is suited to Romantic and modern pieces, and sometimes to more elaborate Baroque works that require a larger instrument with pedals.

The first recital's theme is Italy – music full of passion, expression, singable melodies, and occasionally a light-hearted spirit.

Works by: Frescobaldi, Zipoli, Scarlatti, Morandi, Vivaldi, Respighi, Bossi, Mascagni, Petrali
