Jennifer Cook & Aden Mazur
Part of St Andrew's Cathedral at Noon Recital SeriesJennifer A Cook, originally from Aberdeen and former member of National Youth Brass Band of Scotland.
Educated at Glasgow University and Iowa State University, USA, gaining Bachelor of Music Honours degree in trumpet performance and composition, and PGCE in secondary music education from Manchester Metropolitan University.
From August 2000 taught brass for Isle of Man Music Service for 14 years, 7 years as Head of Brass and Percussion. Conducted Manx Youth Wind Orchestra and helped form and conduct Manx Youth Swing Band.
Was principal trumpet and soloist with the Isle of Man Symphony Orchestra, Isle of Man Wind Orchestra and principal cornet of Rushen Silver Band.
In January 2014 took up post as brass instructor for Aberdeenshire Instrumental Music Service, becoming conductor of the Music Centre Big Band and percussion tutor for the Senior Concert Band and Senior Orchestra.
Since moving back to Aberdeen play repiano cornet for Bon Accord Silver Band, conductor for Bon Accord Youth Band and Inverurie Concert Band Big Band.
Aden Mazur studied music at the University of Aberdeen, graduating in 2015, and holds an LRSM in Violin Performance with Distinction. He is now a professional musician who enjoys working as a collaborative pianist with Any Enemy (the North East New Music Ensemble) as well as an accompanist for exams, festivals, competitions and concerts. Aden also performs with many local orchestras, including the Aberdeen City Orchestra, the Aberdeen Sinfonietta and the Inverurie Orchestra and he is a founding member of the Aurora Quartet and the newly formed Granite Ensemble, founded to produce high-level performance opportunities and concerts for local players and audiences.
