A Twin City Celebration

Winding, flowing, and sparkling like the rivers of twin cities Regensburg and Aberdeen, this musical confluence will create a unique meeting of musicians. Scottish talents Ben MacDonald (guitar) and Roan Anderson (drums) will be joined by Regensburg natives Roman Fritsch (saxophone) and Markus Fritsch (bass) to give musical expression to the historic ties between the two cities.

Twin cities since 1955, this long-standing relationship has led to a number of concerts within the festival over its twenty years. In partnership with the city of Regensburg, the concert will be repeated at the Bavarian Jazz Weekend.

2025 Musicians:

Roman Fritsch - A prolific project leader, arch-collaborator, and versatile saxophonist, Roman has performed alongside the Grammy-nominated WDR Big Band and has collaborated on hip-hop and disco projects.

Ben Macdonald – Guitarist Ben’s playing exhibits classical discipline and expansive improvisational ability. In the past he has collaborated with the likes of Alyn Cosker and Irini Arabatzi.

Roan Anderson - Roan’s tight rhythmic stylings and genre-spanning talent on the drums have led to a nomination for the Scottish Jazz Awards Rising Star award as well as collaborations with Fergus McCreadie, Liam Shortall, Anoushka Nanguy, and others.

Markus Fritsch - Veteran bassist Markus has had four decades of experience playing, arranging, and composing with dozens of recording credits to his name from projects across Europe, the UK, and North America.
