Spring Concert, 2024: Holst and Puccini
2024 sees two significant anniversaries – 150 years since the birth of Gustav Holst and 100 years since the death of Giacomo Puccini. The Stonehaven Chorus has the pleasure of presenting works by both.
While Holst is best known for his orchestral suite “The Planets” we will be performing the First Choral Symphony in the world premiere of a special arrangement for Soprano soloist, chorus, two pianos and percussion by our very own Ralph Jamieson who will also conduct the performance.
Regarded as the greatest and most successful proponent of Italian opera after Verdi, Puccini also composed choral music. You will hear his Messa di Gloria, full of wonderful melodies and choruses, alongside tenor and baritone soloists.
