Fauré Requiem
Come and listen to French composer Gabriel Fauré’s evocative Requiem as the late evening summer sun streams through the wonderful ‘arts and crafts’ stained glass of Haddo House Chapel on Sunday 30 June.
In his Requiem, the French composer Gabriel Fauré distilled some of the most beautiful melodies he ever composed. Gone is the sombre nature of many requiems that had gone before, as Fauré’s is noted for its calm, serene and peaceful outlook – musical solace in a work that focuses on a restful and fear-free end of life.
For this concert, he newly formed Haddo Arts Chamber Choir will be joined by the Nova Quartet to perform a special edition of the piece, arranged for string quartet, in addition to the usual organ and choir. The organist is David J Smith, soloists Katherine Williams (Soprano) and Chris Brighty (Baritone) and the performance will be conducted by Dr Roger B Williams, MBE.
