Claire Runcie
Claire Runcie is a young dramatic soprano originally from Glasgow. Although she undertook an English degree, she studied singing with Kate Hughes and endeavoured to focus on her singing career. In Aberdeen she has taken part in the University of Aberdeen Opera Society, the Early Music Society, various choirs, and has performed several solo recitals. This year she performed the lead role of Adina in the UoA Opera Society’s production of L’elisir D’amore by Donizetti, and two years ago sang as the Second Lady in their production of Mozart’s The Magic Flute. Her recital programmes have spanned Handel, Strauss, Mozart, Fauré, and Schubert.
Last summer she partook in a short singing course at the Royal Conservatoire of Glasgow, and after a round of auditions secured a place at the Royal Northern Conservatoire of Music for a Masters degree in performance. She looks forward to improving her skills and performing more in Manchester in September.
