Attic Theatre
ATTIC THEATRE was developed in the late 1950s by Annie Inglis, with students from the College of Education, who had just completed a production of HAMLET.
"Developed" rather than "founded", ATTIC, under Annie's firm and guiding hand, has since presented an awesome array of drama to audiences in Aberdeen and beyond.
The first production was THE RIVER LINE, by Charles Morgan; the 100th, MAN OF LA MANCHA.<br>In between there have been numerous productions;
PLAYS, such as A DAY IN THE DEATH OF JOE EGG (1969), THE BIRTHDAY PARTY (1980), ONE FOR THE ROAD (1992)
MUSICALS, from the classic WEST SIDE STORY (1975), and FIDDLER ON THE ROOF (1982), through the off-Broadway gem THE FANTASTICKS (1988), to the farcical, A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM (1993)
PANTOMIMES, from the perennial favourites, CINDERELLA, ALADDIN, DICK WHITTINGTON, to the less conventional TREASURE ISLAND
... and so much more.
ATTIC has performed mainly in Aberdeen Arts Centre and His Majesty's Theatre although other venues include;
Village halls, The Winter Gardens, Cathedrals, Schools, Graveyards, and Provost Skene's House ... for an entertainment officially called IT HAPPENED HERE (1977). Unofficially known as THE HISTORICAL HOUSES, and referred to affectionately by those involved as THE HYSTERICAL HOUSES, for reasons best known to themselves.
