Part of St Andrew's Cathedral at Noon Recital SeriesCATHERINE O’ROURKE: Catherine teaches flute at Aberdeen University, The Wee Music School in Aberdeen and the North East of Scotland Music School where she is also Director of the NESMS Flute Choir. She runs a thriving private practice teaching flute, piano, theory, general history and history of music and enjoys helping students research for and produce Diploma and Degree recital programme notes. Catherine co-founded both the Merlewood Ensemble and Highland Chamber Orchestra with whom she played for a number of years. Whilst living in Inverness, she was also a member of the Mahler Players. Currently, she is the flautist with Any Enemy, a contemporary classical ensemble based in Aberdeen. She also freelances with various groups and gives solo performances when time permits.
HEATHER EVANS: Heather balances her music-making with arts administration and fundraising, working in youth music and theatre to create new opportunities for performing arts experiences. Ensembles ae her favourite thing and she loves playing regularly with Aberdeen City Orchestra and Grampian Concert Orchestra as well as NESMS flute choir, Cedar Wind quintet and other chamber groups. She has also played for G&S and AOCP shows and will soon be joining forces with Concordia String Orchestra for the Bach Orchestral Suite No 2 (21st March, Fountainhill Church at the Stocket).
JULIETTE DINNING: Juliette hails from the midlands originally but calls Aberdeen home. She studied flute with David Nicholson, and has now been teaching woodwind for over thirty years, runs her own private practice and is the tutor for Aberdeen Concert Band. Her recent performances include with Aberdeenshire Saxophone Orchestra (soprano sax), Granite City Community Band (tenor horn), Aberdeen Concert Band (flute/sax/horn) and last year at St Andrew’s Cathedral performing flute for a recital of works by Eleanor Dunnet.
KIRSTY YOUNG: Kirsty is in her final year of a music degree at the University of Aberdeen, focusing on flute performance, composition and Community Music. She plays with various music ensembles in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, including Aberdeen City Orchestra and was one of the founding members of the Inverurie Concert Band where she now volunteers as a tutor for their youth section. Kirsty is the woodwind instrumental teacher at the International School Aberdeen and has recently started a woodwind instrument repair business.
