Performer Information
Ramsay is in S5 and is currently studying Higher Music. As well as playing piano he is taught trumpet by Fabrizio Oddo. He is a valued member of the orchestra and concert band and was part of the European 2025 Music Tour. Ramsay is also an excellent drummer and electric guitar player. He is working towards his Grade 6 Trumpet exam and has passed Grade 3 Theory with Distinction and Grade 2 Jazz Piano with Distinction. Ramsay is taught by Ian Milne. Ramsay is now on Spotify under the artist name Ramsay T where you can find his first single No Need to Explain It.
Pete is in S4 and is currently studying National 5 Music and National 5 Music Technology. Pete is taught singing by Andrew Saunders. He is also a keen actor and has also passed Grade 6 LAMDA Acting and Grade 6 LAMDA Verse and Prose both with Distinction. He is part of the Rhona Mitchell’s School of Drama in Inverurie. He is playing the part of Puck in their production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream later in June. In school he is a valued member of the orchestra, concert band and percussion ensemble. Pete was part of the European 2025 Music Tour.
Scarlett is in S6 and is taught guitar by Paul Holroyd. She also plays piano. On leaving school Scarlett is going to Glasgow University to study Maths. Throughout her time in Meldrum, she has been a valued member of the guitar ensemble, Fiddlestix and the concert band orchestra. She has taught guitar and ukulele at We Make Music and has some private pupils. Scarlett has performed at Barra Castle for Rona Main’s wellness events. Scarlett was part of the European 2025 Music Tour.
Holly is in S6 and is currently studying Advanced Higher Music and National 5 Music Technology. She is a valued member of the ukulele group where is the lead vocalist. She was part of the European 2025 Music Tour singing in the vocal group. Outside school Holly is part of the Rhona Mitchell School of Drama and is playing a lead role in A Midsummer Night’s Dream in June. Hollt has also taught Drama to juniors at Rhona Mitchell’s School of Drama. She has passed LAMDA Grade 6 Acting and G7 LAMDA Verse and Prose both with Distinction. She has an unconditional place at Aberdeen College of Performing Arts to study an HND in Acting.
Millie is in S5 and is currently studying Higher Music and Higher Music Technology. She is taught piano by Ben Woodward and violin and viola by Zoë Davidson. She is a valued member of the orchestra, Fiddlestix and string ensemble. She recently passed her Grade 5 Theory exam with Merit and is currently working towards her Grade 8 exam in both Piano and Viola. She is the recipient of a scholarship from NESMS to study viola. Millie is a young leader with Aberdeenshire
Youth Music Sessions and a member of the Inverurie Community Orchestra. She is a member of NYOS Development Orchestra and recently performed on viola with them at the Glasgow City Halls. She has performed at many community events and was part of the European 2025 Music Tour.
Owen, currently in S2 plays the whistle, Highland and Irish Uilleann pipes, melodeon and piano. He has been passionate about traditional and modern folk music from a young age, and has taken part in TMSA competitions, winning the Aberdeen solo competitions for Senior Whistle (2025, 2026), Melodeon and Tune Writing (both 2024, 2025, 2026). In Irish music, Owen competed in his first Fleadh in 2025 and was awarded second place at the Uilleann pipes slow air All-Ireland (international) competition (12-15 years), also achieving first place at the all-Britain Fleadh for both danse tunes and slow airs, and LCME Grade 8 with distinction in January 2026. At the all-Scotland Fleadh he received third place at the all-age Newly Composed Tune competition and first place at the Tin Whistle danse tunes competition (12-15 years). He achieved his piano Trinity grade 5 with distinction last year and is taught folk piano accompaniment by Hamish Napier. Owen annually takes part in SYM and Oldmeldrum Rotary District solo competitions (winning for his age group in 2023 and 2024 and awarded ‘Promising young musician’ in 2026). He was invited to play a set with Ross Ainslie and the Sanctuary Band at Glassel Hall in March 2025 and has also been on stage with professional bands like Arthur Coates and Kerran Cotterell. He features on the second album of the Sir-Reel Clarks, ‘Tak Your Time’, recorded at Tpot Studio in Perthshire. Owen enjoys learning the traditional repertoire, playing in sessions, busking towards his next instrument and composing his own tunes. He has been regularly involved in Elphinstone Centre events at the University of Aberdeen, such as the Alex Green Festival, but also the Gaitherin’, SC&T Youth and Fèis Rois, and he did a feature for a TMSA radio show ‘Trad Time wi’ TMSA’ for KCR (Keith Community Radio) in 2024. He plays in two pipe bands, Meldrum Academy Pipe band and Highland Granite, as well as the folk band Fiddlestix at Meldrum Academy. In 2025, Owen also started a folk trio called Farran (@farranband.official) who were awarded Runner Up place for the Scottish Young Musician Open Ensemble 2026 competition at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, which came with a £250 grant. They played twice at Celtic Connections 2026 at the Royal Glasgow Concert Hall, both at Danny Kyle Open Stage where they came in the top 24 (‘Highly Recommended’), and at the TMSA Young Trad Tour alongside six BBC Radio Scotland’s Young Champions. Their Danny Kyle show was broadcast on Celtic Music Radio. The band’s other performances by invitation have included Spectra Festival of Light (Aberdeen, on the bill for three nights as support for Dlù and Norrie McIver), Folk at the Salmon Bothy (Portsoy), TMSA’s annual Doric concert, Haddo Arts, Aberdeen Highland Games and Newton Dee. Farran will play the Haal Festival and on the main stage at the Glenglassaugh Scottish Traditional Boat Festival in June. With SC&T Youth they have performed at festivals (Wayword and Light the Blue in Aberdeen, Scots Fiddle in Edinburgh, gathering in Dundee), supporting and playing with bands ranging from Darach to Blazin’ Fiddles and Capercaillie.
Andrew is in S6 and is currently studying Advanced Higher Music. He is taught double bass and ‘cello by Sarah Neil and piano by Anna Hay. He recently passed Grade 8 Piano with Distinction and Grade 6 Double Bass with Distinction. He is sitting his Grade 8 Double Bass in June. Andrew is the recipient of a scholarship from NESMS to study piano with Nigel Clayton. He will be performing at a piano concert in June with NESMS and performed at their Lunchbreak concert back in November. He is a member of the school orchestra and string ensemble. This year he has been a Performing Arts Ambassador supporting the staff organise events and supporting younger students in both music and music technology classes. He is a member of NYOS symphony Orchestra where plays double bass and performed with them in Glasgow during the holidays. He is a member of the University of Aberdeen Symphony Orchestra. He was part of the European 2025 Music Tour playing double bass in the orchestra. On leaving school, Andrew has an unconditional offer to study Music at the University of Aberdeen.
